Our Origin Story: Built on Purpose
Every organization starts with a spark. For Bright Today Foundation, that spark was ignited by our founder, Jothilakshmi.
Jothilakshmi
Before launching Bright Today Foundation, Jothilakshmi spent years in the grassroots social work sector, managing community welfare projects and witnessing firsthand how top-down development often fails when it doesn't involve or empower the local community directly. Throughout this journey she was repeatedly confronted by a painful reality: the alarming rise in mental health struggles among school children and the severe lack of emotional and psychological support within traditional educational frameworks. A specific moment changed everything — she met a brilliant young girl who had to drop out of school at age twelve because her family could not afford basic school supplies and uniforms, forcing her to work instead of learning. Refusing to remain a bystander, Jothilakshmi brought together a small group of passionate advocates, volunteers, and experts to build a structured ecosystem of support. What began as a local grassroots initiative has rapidly scaled into Bright Today Foundation — a registered organization driven entirely by accountability, transparency, and deep community impact.
Our work is far from finished. We are not just building temporary fixes; we are investing heavily in generational growth. Every program we run, every scholarship we fund, and every community we uplift is a step toward a much brighter, self-sufficient tomorrow.
Yasotha
With a strong background in organizational management and administration, Yasotha joined forces with Jothilakshmi to turn a passionate idea into a structured, impactful reality. Where others saw insurmountable social challenges, Yasotha saw an opportunity to build sustainable, scalable systems that create lasting change. At the foundation, she oversees strategic partnerships, corporate collaborations, and long-term growth planning. Her unique ability to mentor team members, inspire volunteer networks, and guide youth programs ensures that the foundation's resources directly reach the individuals who need them most, with total transparency and efficiency.
Partnering with Jothilakshmi to build Bright Today Foundation was an easy decision. We share a fundamental belief that real empowerment requires practical, long-term frameworks. Every day, we work to ensure that our programs don't just offer temporary relief, but build a permanent foundation for a brighter tomorrow.
